With "Friends" Like These...

"Evangelist" Pat Robertson calls for the murder of the democratically elected president of a sovereign nation that is not at war with the United States and "conservatives" rally to support him. The bile-spewing "Rev." Fred Phelps, of the apostate Westboro Baptist Church, takes his gospel of hatred to the streets once again. With "believers" like these in the limelight, the world seems to be hating us for the wrong reasons.

Phelps and his cult at Westboro Baptist preach a gospel that is contrary to scripture. It is a hate-centered gospel. It does not focus on God; rather, it focuses only on the depravity of human behavior. In fact, it's to the point where Phelps has developed a sick fascination with homosexuality.

While it is necessary to point out sin and the law, that is not the extent of the gospel message. We are also to preach salvation through Jesus Christ. Phelps and his followers only express their hate for particular sinners and their desire to see those sinners destroyed. That does not exemplify Christian love, and it is their abandonment of biblical teaching that makes them apostate.

But you already know my position. We've been over this before.
