A Covenantal Time Travel Conundrum

Suppose I had access to a time machine. If I were to travel back in time to witness Old Testament events like the parting of the Red Sea or the fall of Jericho, would I still be under the New Covenant while visiting the past?

Yeah, I know it's silly, but random thoughts like this tend to pop into my head when I watch Doctor Who.

stop watching dr. who (duh)

are there not enough real life problems, that we should need to fill our minds with imaginary ones?

call it entertainment & leisure, but why absorb false gospel for that purpose?

also, i love star wars.

Note how the post was tagged. It was tongue-in-cheek, falling into the "Did Adam and Eve have belly buttons?" category.

On the other hand, I suppose it does touch on something of importance. No matter what one watches, reads, or listens to, it is important do so critically through the lens of scripture. So, in that respect, maybe my question wasn't all that silly.

Here's what's crazy. I had a thought similar to this a few days ago. My conclusion was that we would still be under the New Covenant as we would knowledge of the full atoning work of Christ. And, I would contend, that passages like Heb. 11:13-16 would indicate that we could have hope based upon our desire and expectation of Christ.

To link this to the Arminian-Calvinist debate, could a time traveler alter anything that had already been predestined to happen? Oh, the fun we could have with this issue! :)

My opinion, no, God's sovereignty and providence would dictate that the actions of one lone traveler could not alter the unfolding of history or salvation. If said time traveler would manage to do something that could affect history, God could/would providentially cause it to work to His glory and to His purposes.

If they'd been predestined to, yes.

Time being linear (nothing else makes sense) you can NEVER be "out" of time so therefore The Covent of Grace would cover you SINCE God applied it in YOUR past (MOSES FUTURE)...going on the idea that time travel COULD happen
